IMPORTANT INFORMATION

We inform you that the installation of our temporary offices (trailer) will take place on July 20th at 628, chemin de la Gare and that the staff will move on August 10th, 2023. The construction of the new Town Hall will begin on August 14th and the council meeting of August 21th will be held in the temporary offices at 628 chemin de la Gare. Closing of the Town Hall for moving: Thursday, August 10th at noon.

The next Council meeting will be held on Monday, August 21th, starting at 7:30pm. The Mayor and Council members will welcome you at the temporary offices, 628 chemin de la Gare. PUBLIC WORKS – STREET ADDRESS

Our By-law 135-96, whose purpose is to identify any building in the territory of the municipality of Ivry-sur-le-Lac by a civic number, is not respected by all. We remind you that the identification of your residence or any other building is of paramount importance during an emergency situation and recommend a civic number on the front of the building.

Here are some criteria that must be met for an event that would require an intervention at your home. The civic number must be easily visible from the public road day and night, with a lighting or reflective system. It must also be maintained in bad weather and visible in both directions of traffic. If the residence is more than 30 metres from the road, it is preferable to display the civic number at the edge of the road.
We believe in the safety of our citizens. We recommend a civic number on the front of the building

CONSTRUCTION WORKS

CHEMIN LACASSE ET MONTÉE DAOUST

We remind you that the work undertaken on Lacasse Road and Daoust Climb continues. However, work will be stopped during construction vacations from July 22 to August 6, 2023, inclusive. However, traffic and access to residences will be accessible.

MANITOU SUD

Paving work on South Manitou Road will begin next fall.

WORK ON 117 – IVRY-SUR-LE-LAC ET MONT-BLANC

Work on Route 117 North will continue from July 24 to September 1, 2023, between Chemin de la Gare and Chemin du Lac-Nantel Sud in Mont-Blanc. This work will result in the closure of one lane in two, between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m. (1 p.m. on Fridays) and the reduced lane width will be 3.5 metres.

The duration of work and obstacles may be modified due to operational constraints or weather conditions. See Quebec 511 for more information about this barrier. For the safety of road users, compliance with the signs in place is essential. and the reduced lane width will be 3.5 metres.

NAUTICAL PATROL –-STICKERS – BOAT WASHING

The payment of stickers is mandatory and must be made at Town Hall by presenting the registration of your boat with Transport Canada.

Before putting your boat in the water (kayak, boat, windsurfing, etc.) or that of your guests, it is mandatory to go through the washing station to avoid the spread of invasive herbs and to comply with the existing regulations.

When you receive visitors and they bring water-based recreational equipment
– tubes, skis, life jackets or fishing gear
– please make sure they are free of invasive plant parts.

To do this, they must be washed beforehand away from the lake (at least 30 metres from the shore) with a pressure washer.

PRIVATE BUOYS – LAC MANITOU

We remind you that it is forbidden to install private buoys on Lake Manitou, in accordance with the Canada Shipping Act 2001, SOR/99-335 section 3 of Transport Canada: It is forbidden to place a private buoy in Canadian waters that interferes or could interfere with the navigation of ships or that misleads or could mislead ship operators.

The buoys installed by the Municipality are the only ones approved by Transport Canada on Lake Manitou. All other buoys are illegal and must be removed. You can consult the by-law at https://laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/fra/reglements/dors-99-335/page-1.html.

However, we do allow private buoys at events authorized by the Municipality, and we ask that you identify them with your telephone number and remove them after the event.

It is important to remember the following instructions regarding maximum speed on Lake Manitou, which can be found in the Federal Vessel Operation Restriction Regulations, available at: https://laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/fra/reglements/DORS-2008-120/

Remember that Baie Lacasse (Baie Nord), being relatively small, must be shared between swimmers, kayaks, canoes, sailboats and motorboats. Priority belongs to swimmers and non-motorized craft. So if you’re driving a motorboat, keep at least 50 metres away from other users.

REMINDER – BEAVER DAM

It is forbidden to destroy a beaver dam, as stipulated in section 6 of the Act respecting the conservation and development of wildlife!

We ask you to contact the Municipality, which, with the help of the MRC des Laurentides, will see to the dismantling of the dams without endangering the animals and the sediments that may result from this destruction in the surrounding waterways.

REMINDER

NATIONAL DROWNING PREVENTION WEEK FROM 16 TO 22 JULY 2023

Be cautious and make sure your children wear their life jackets when out on the water in a canoe, kayak or other watercraft. The same goes for adults.

FIRE SAFETY – CAMPFIRES

Summer is in full swing, and so are outdoor fires. To make sure your vacation and campfire evenings don’t go to waste in this particularly hot season, be sure to follow these few steps for a safe fire, and check for any restrictions from SOPFEU, your municipality or a campground. Above all, keep propane cylinders and other fuels gas at a safe distance.

For a safe and enjoyable vacation, be vigilant!
1. PREPARE an unobstructed area with mineral soil and no combustible materials (leaves, grass, etc.).
2. LIGHT a fire no larger than 1 metre by 1 metre.
3. WATCH over it at all times, and always have water nearby.
4. EXTINGUISH IT by spraying abundantly and mixing the embers.
5. CHECK that there are no heat sources by touching the ashes.

ENVIRONMENT – THE RETURN OF WILD BIRDS

To our delight, wild birds are back on our lakes. Geese, mallards and loons are living harmoniously side by side. Unfortunately, we have received some distressing reports. We would like to remind you of the importance of protecting all the animal species that inhabit Lac Manitou and the other lakes on our territory. Acts of violence against animals will not be tolerated. We ask you to take note of this so that this enriching wildlife can coexist in peace, enriching our quality of life.

ENVIRONMENT – MULCH DISTRIBUTION

Do your beds need mulch? You can get it for free at the municipal garage at 628, chemin de la Gare. During construction holidays (July 22 to August 6).

Since work will resume on August 7 on Chemin Lacasse and Montée Daoust, after that date, we ask you to come only on weekends to avoid the risk of accidents.

ENVIRONMENT – PROVINCIAL RAGWEED CAMPAIGN

THE 17TH RAGWEED PULL CAMPAIGN HAS BEGUN !

In Quebec, around 1 in 8 people are allergic to ragweed. It’s important to pull it out several times during the summer, because if the plant flowers, it produces pollen. This pollen causes allergic rhinitis and can trigger asthma attacks. Ragweed is responsible for 75% of pollen allergies.

How to pull it out?
Pulling and mowing are 2 quick and effective methods of removing ragweed from your property. You can dispose of pulled or cut plants with the garbage. It’s not advisable to put them in the compost, as ragweed seeds can contaminate it.

PREVENTING RAGWEED FROM GROWING
Ragweed is difficult to grow in lush, fertile lawns. To limit the presence of ragweed, you can :
• use mulch or ground cover in areas where there is no lawn;
• Improve soil quality with potting soil or fertilizer;
• seed or plant other vegetation.

ENVIRONMENT – RIPARIAN BUFFERS – LAKE SHIELD

As you know, the conservation of riparian buffers has always been a priority for council members, as has the felling of trees on lots. To this end, by-law 2023-154 amending zoning by-law 2013-060 to revise tree provisions and siting standards to take into account the wooded strip, has been adopted. It will come into force as soon as we receive the certificate of conformity from the MRC.

Prior to the adoption of this by-law, Council also adopted by-laws 2023-152 amending construction by-law 2013-057 to revise the provisions relating to trees, as well as by-law 2023-153 amending by-law 2013-059 to revise the provisions relating to trees and contaminated land.

We urge you to read these new by-laws carefully, as they have a direct impact on riparian buffers and tree felling.
