Farewell to our students

The weather is getting colder and kids are back in school. It is time to say thank you to our students who supported us during the summer season. Their presence was made possible thanks to the federal program-Summer Jobs Canada. Thank you to Mathieu Tousignant for his maintenance support. Thanks as well to our employees at the washing station and at the boat launch, Jacob Ibghy, Étienne Tousignant and Simon Poitras. Jacob and Simon are present a few days a week to support us until the end of the season, which ends on Monday, October 12th, 2020.

Thank you for your co-operation, your contribution was greatly appreciated!

Road Work Planned for 2020

The beginning of the fall is when the major road repair work will begin. We were waiting for a response to a grant application that we finally received, and which provided a financial grant of nearly $200,000 for this year’s work! Of course, this grant will allow us to use less of our operating budget which is excellent news!

Work will begin shortly in the following areas:

  • Chemin Lac-Manitou-Sud: Patching, grading and/or paving over nearly 50 metres.
  • Chemin Lacasse: Paving on nearly 200 metres.
  • Chemin Fyon: Complete road repair (granular reloading).
  • Chemin du Lac Azur: Paving on nearly 100 metres located on the territory of Ivry-sur-le-Lac.

In early October, the road work will begin, so we ask you to be patient with the contractors this work. Thank you for your co-operation!

Hydro-Québec: Trees near transmission lines

Here is an important telephone number to remember when one or more trees on your property are in the right-of-way of Hydro-Québec transmission lines. It is always preferable to contact them, even if you are thinking of doing the work yourself. To reach a representative, call 1-888-385-7252. Let us choose safety!

In the same vein, many citizens have received a notice to cut down trees that could be potentially dangerous to the safety of people and/or property, so if you find that these trees are dangerous and are too close to transmission lines, you can contact Hydro-Québec to inform them of the dangerous trees. Consequently, it will be important to inform the Municipality of your plan so that we can add to your file that you are waiting for Hydro-Québec to get back to you.

Ecocentres

Last August, the MRC des Laurentides announced the resumption of the collection of household hazardous waste (HHW) in the Ecocentres. On May 25, due to a large number of people and the difficulty of safely handling HHW, the MRC des Laurentides temporarily suspended the collection of HHW in the nine (9) Ecocentres. Once the situation was restored, the Ecocentres resumed the collection of HHW and encouraged citizens to bring the following materials to the Ecocentres so that they can be treated in an environmentally friendly and safe manner:

  • Paint, varnish and solvent
  • Used motor oil (in small containers)
  • Aerosol cans
  • Oxidants
  • Propane Tanks
  • Pesticides and fertilizers
  • Ink cartridges
  • Cleaning Products
  • Compact fluorescent bulbs
  • Thermometers
  • Domestics fire extinguishers (only)
  • Alkaline or rechargeable batteries

Please be aware that the guidelines for COVID-19 remain in effect.

On site personnel will not be able to assist you in handling the materials you wish to discard. Please ensure that you can dispose of heavy items on your own.

  • Expect longer than normal wait times as the number of citizens on site will be limited.
  • Do not forget to have your proof of residence on hand, it will have to be shown through the vehicle window.

Washing is important even when you take your boat out of the water!

Remember that it is essential to wash trailers, even when they come out of the water! Please keep in mind that a single particle of the notorious invasive exotic plant, Eurasian Watermilfoil, would be enough to contaminate our lake. The most effective way to continue to enjoy a healthy lake is to clean trailers and boats, so, we are counting on your usual co-operation!

Collection of organic matter continues to grow

The use of the brown bin for organic materials is a new routine that has gained momentum in recent months. Since its implementation, there has been an increase in the rate of diversion of organic materials from landfill sites. This simple daily gesture reduces adverse effects on the environment, such as greenhouse gases.

The MRC des Laurentides expects that if the residents of Ivry-sur-le-Lac continue their good composting habits, we will double last year’s results. This is fantastic!

Congratulations to everyone and let us continue our efforts to contribute to the health of our environment.

Temporary winter shelters

It is time to start thinking about winter. With this in mind, we would like to remind you that temporary shelters or carports, will be permitted from October 1st until May 1st.

RénoRégion Program

The RénoRégion program is a program sponsored by the Société d’habitation du Québec. The objective of this program is to provide financial assistance to low- and modest-income homeowners living in rural areas to carry out work to repair major defects in their homes.

This program provides a subsidy that is paid when the work is completed. This grant can reach up to 95% of the recognized cost of carrying out eligible work but cannot exceed $12,000.

The value of the building must not exceed the maximum standardized value set by each municipality or MRC for eligibility to the program on its territory. The maximum value established for our municipality is $115,000.

How do I proceed? Well, you must contact the municipal administrative team and we will proceed with your registration.  Then, your registration is forwarded to the MRC des Laurentides, which runs the program. The staff will contact you for further details.
