Activities and Recreation – New

The Municipality is pleased to announce that the citizens of Ivry-sur-le-Lac can now obtain their Agglomeration Citizen Card – Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts. This card will allow Ivry citizens to benefit from the same rates as residents of the City of Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts. This rate is valid for all activities offered at the sports centre, such as swimming lessons, free swim, field hockey, figure skating lessons, and free skating. The card also includes free access to the Gaston-Miron Library.

How can I get it?

Please go to the Gaston-Miron Library located at 83 Saint-Vincent Rd., Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts any time from Monday to Friday between 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm and Saturday from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. You will be required to show proof of residence, i.e., a copy of your assessment notice, a bill (with your name and address in Ivry-sur-le-Lac). You must also have a photo ID with you.

You will no longer have to apply for a refund from the Municipality to benefit from the non-resident rate. Don’t hesitate to apply now, it’s free!

For day camp registrations, registration will open on April 26, 2021 for Ivry-sur-le-Lac residents. Following an agreement with the Town of Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts, you will be able to pay the resident fees when registering your children and the Municipality of Ivry-sur-le-Lac will be billed for the excess. This way, you will not have to make a request to the administrative team for a partial refund. You must present a proof of residence (with your name and address in Ivry-sur-le-Lac). You may also be asked to provide photo ID.

Another great way to make life easier for our citizens!

Temporary Carport

With spring upon us, it’s time to think about taking down your temporary carport. The presence of a temporary carport in all setbacks and parking areas is permitted from October 1st of one year to May 1st of the following year under Bylaw 2013-060, and sections 206 and 368, so it is important to plan to remove it before the end of April.

It is possible to install a temporary shelter between May 1st and October 1st of the same year under certain conditions. The installation of a temporary shelter is authorized only if it is installed in the rear lateral margins and is not visible from a public or private road.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation!

Municipal Washing Station and Landing

Due to the early start of the season, the official opening of the Municipal washing station and landing has been moved to Thursday, May 13, 2021. Also, Council has agreed to open on Saturdays, April 24, May 1st and May 8th, 2021 between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. in order to allow boaters who are anxious to get out on Lake Manitou and who wish to launch their boats earlier.

 It is therefore important to make sure that you send your signed documentation and payment to the administrative team beforehand, in order to reduce the waiting period and to ensure social distancing with the attendant. You can send your documentation and your Interac payment (etransfert) to the following address: info@ivry-sur-le-lac.qc.ca

National Volunteer Week

This year’s National Volunteer Week falls between April 18th and the 24th and celebrates and recognizes the work and commitment of volunteers. Did you know that studies have shown that volunteering improves one’s health? With the health challenges of the last year, community centres and various organizations in the region have rethought volunteering creatively to respond to the growing demand from the population.

The Jebenevole.ca platform is aimed at both organizations that wish to recruit volunteers and individuals who wish to get involved, regardless of their location throughout Quebec.

Message from the Sûreté du Québec

The Sûreté du Québec asks motorists and motorcyclists to be cautious. With the arrival of nice weather, motorists must once again share the road with motorcyclists. Everyone should adopt responsible and safe behaviour to reduce the risk of being involved in a collision. The end of March was particularly deadly with 5 people killed, including one motorcyclist. Wet pavement and loose gravel combined with changing temperatures can reduce tire traction and can increase braking distances and the risk of losing control.

Let’s be vigilant on a motorcycle as well as in a car!

Attention – Thefts in the Area

When a property is only occupied on a seasonal basis, it is extremely attractive to potential thieves. It is then important to use as many means as possible to create doubt and dissuade them from breaking in, such as:

  • Evening lighting, with the installation of a timer in strategic places in the house;
  • Outdoor lighting, with one or more motion detectors;
  • If you are absent during the winter, have the driveway cleared of snow to give the impression that the house is inhabited; and
  • Installation of an alarm system connected to a central station.

Remain vigilant!

Renewal of your Work Permit

If you are currently doing work on your property where a permit has been issued by the municipality’s planning department and the work appears to be taking longer than the period stated on your permit, then it is essential that you apply for a renewal before the permit expires. Once the permit has expired, it is no longer possible to renew it and a completely new application must be completed. You will be required to complete the required documentation again to obtain a new permit. This will also incur greater costs to you.

2021 – Year of the Census

The Canadian census is an essential tool that tells us how the country is evolving. The Government of Canada uses census data and socio-economic trends to guide important decisions that directly affect our families, businesses, and neighbourhoods. The Municipality of Ivry-sur-le-Lac encourages all residents to complete their census questionnaire. This has a direct bearing on the evaluation, development and planning of programs and services such as schools, daycare, family services, emergency services, roads, public transportation, academic training centres, etc.

Sport fishing – What can you keep?

According to the Ministère des Forêts, de la Faune et des Parcs, in Ivry-sur-le-Lac, which is located in zone 9, as elsewhere in Québec, sport fishing is permitted. However, it is important to remember the daily catch limits as to the number, size and weight of fish you can keep. Here are the rules that apply to all the waterways on the territory as well as additional rules specifically for Lac Manitou.
