Notice of Closure of Administrative Offices

Due to the Good Friday holiday, our administrative offices will be closed on Friday, April 10, 2020. Our team will be back to regular hours on Tuesday, April 14, 2020.

Departure of Guillaume Fortier

Mr. Guillaume Fortier has left the Municipality in order to take up new challenges. We would like to thank him for his diligent work and his skills as an urban planner, which have been most beneficial for the Municipality. We wish him all the best in his new endeavours!

Appointment of Mr. Antoine Bélisle to the Position of Urban Planning, Roads and Environment Manager

Following the departure of Mr. Fortier, we wish to announce the appointment of Mr. Antoine Bélisle to the position of Planning, Roads and Environment Manager.  Mr. Bélisle has more than 5 years of experience with private urban planning firms and has already held a mandate with a neighbouring MRC.  Mr. Bélisle holds a bachelor’s degree in town planning and is very familiar with the standards and laws applicable to a Municipality. The latter is very important in order to provide excellent service while having great rigour in terms of compliance with applicable rules and regulations. Mr. Bélisle will begin as of March 17, and Mr. Fortier has agreed to provide a few hours of training to aid in the transition.

Welcome to our office Antoine!

When does your Roof Need to be Cleared of Snow?

The amount of snow accumulating on the roof will vary depending on the position of the house in relation to its environment.  In some cases, it may never need to be removed.  In the event that snow accumulation is significant, particularly during periods of thaw or during an ice storm, the load increases considerably and the natural drainage of the roof may be compromised by ice formation, thus requiring certain steps to be undertaken.

The Régie du bâtiment du Québec, as a preventative measure and as well as for everyone’s safety, recommends the following measures to homeowners:

  • Remove the snow accumulated on their property to avoid the risk of collapse.
  • Take the necessary measures to ensure the safety of people walking near the building.
  • Pay attention to snow loads on vaulted or rounded roofs, especially if these loads are not evenly distributed.
  • Entrust snow removal to qualified companies with the appropriate expertise and equipment

By entrusting this task to companies with the appropriate methods and equipment, you avoid damaging the waterproof membrane of the roof.  However, should you decide to remove the snow from the roof yourself, it is recommended that you do so from the ground, using a roof shovel equipped with a telescopic handle to prevent any risk of falling.  Keep in mind that the operation consists of removing the excess, leaving a layer of 10 to 15 cm to avoid damaging the roof.

Signs of risk of collapse;

  • Appearance of cracks on the walls
  • Interior doors that jam or rub when opening or closing
  • Unusual crackling noises are heard
  • Ceiling distortion

By proceeding without delay, you limit surprises.

Do you like Maple Syrup?

Visiting a sugar shack is a spring ritual for many. Mother Nature is largely responsible for the popularity of this festive period. Maple syrup requires harsh winters, and for the sap to flow in the spring, cold temperatures at night and sun in the daytime. This is precisely our climate here!  The province of Quebec produces about 90% of Canada’s production, which represents about 75% of the world’s maple syrup products.

Experts agree that our maple syrup is without a doubt the best in the world!

Would you like to taste the joys of maple!  Visit the website for sugar shacks in the Laurentians!

It is imperative That We Maintain Our Good Recycling Habits!

Tricentris, the sorting centre organization for the Municipality, wishes to reassure the citizens of its member municipalities and clients during these times when sorting centres are in the news. The difficulties reported in the media and which threaten the survival of certain sorting centres does not pertain to Tricentris sorting.

Nevertheless, the market for recyclable materials has remained particularly difficult in recent years for all sorting centres around the world. Several countries purchasing paper bales have refused to import recycled fibre and those that continue their operations have tightened their quality requirements. Sorting centres must absolutely produce material of very high quality.

Thanks to past investments, continuous process improvements, dedicated staff and a solid business model, Tricentris can assure that all the fibres processed by the organization are available for sale because its three sorting centres achieve purity levels of 95-99%.

The company continues, however, to strive to develop local solutions, confident that these will contribute to solving the market problems experienced in the industry.

Tricentris encourages citizens to maintain their good recycling habits, thereby helping to improve the quality of recyclable materials sent to the sorting centres.

Remember though, that the least polluting waste that is that which is not produced!
