Theft of Equipment

Following a round of inspection, by the road department, we discovered that a sign on Lac Manitou Sud was stolen. This signage is necessary to encourage drivers to slow down near the entrance of the municipal dock. Our main interest is the safety of children and adults, slowing down the speed of traffic is a must.

This is the second incident in the area, this safety measure has been taken to protect all users of this road.

Such acts are reprehensible and cannot be tolerated.

Lacasse / Daoust Road Project

The municipality is still waiting for the final authorization from the Ministère de l’Environnement et de la Lutte contre les changements climatiques. Some steps in the process have been completed to date, but others are still being processed. We will keep you informed as soon as we have news. Keep an eye on our ”Info-travaux” tab on our municipal website. https://www.ivry-sur-le-lac.qc.ca/

Reminder – Citizen’s obligation to provide proof of emptying

According to article 4 of the bylaw 2009-131, when you have your septic installation emptied, it is your responsibility to send proof of the execution of the work to the Municipality no later than October 15th of each year when an emptying is required by bylaw.

Although the various service providers offer to forward the proof to the municipality, we never receive them all. It is preferable to send it to us yourself by e-mail (admin@ivry-sur-le-lac.qc.ca), where we confirm receipt and update your file.

Also, an annual maintenance contract is necessary for certain septic installations (type Ecoflo, Bionest, Enviro-Septic, etc.). The same applies to the annual maintenance. Send us a proof to update your file. We accept a copy of the maintenance contract.

Fall – The season for hiking!

Fall is often the season of choice for hikers. This activity is for everyone and can be started at any age. Hiking is perhaps the most accessible outdoor activity.

When you are a beginner, you should plan shorter hikes, with little or no change in elevation. This is a good way to evaluate your abilities. The important thing is to give yourself time to progress and never overestimate your abilities. For your safety, we recommend that you hike with more than one person. It is also possible to join a walking group.

What should I bring in my backpack;

  • Water bottle with a minimum of one liter of water
  • Topographic map of the trails
  • Raincoat
  • Compass
  • Headlamp
  • Frist aid kit
  • Food (with a waste bag)
  • Mosquito repellent

Contrary to what many people think, organic matter should not be left in the wild. The decomposition process can be very slow, up to two years for banana and orange peels. Leaving organic materials can have a negative impact on the health of wildlife. Therefore, it is important not to leave anything behind and to leave with our garbage.

One important aspect to ensure the enjoyment of the hike is the adjustment of the backpack. It is very important to adjust your backpack to avoid discomfort and pain.

Enjoy!

Nature & Wildlife

Usually by the end of this month and at the beginning of the next, we will see a drastic change in the vegetation around us. The foliage of deciduous trees and shrubs will metamorphose from lush green to brilliant reds, fiery oranges, and golden yellows. This is one of the most magnificent times of the year to absorb the beauty of our forests while hiking through a trail covered with a vibrant carpet of leaves. But what should we do with all these leaves once they fall? Instead of reaching for the rake or leaf blower, the Nature Conservatory of Canada recommends leaving them on the ground. They provide shelter for insects and small amphibians over the winter, which in turn become an important source of food for birds in the springtime. An added bonus is that the leaves also get converted into a natural mulch for the lawn as they decompose throughout the winter. So, unless you’re picking a few leaves up for a craft project with your kids – leave the rest of them on your lawn. Not only will this eliminate a big task from your autumn chores – it is the environmentally-friendly thing to do!

Reminder – Final payment of your 2022 assessment notice

The last payment due date is October 15, 2022. The due date indicates the date by which your payment must be received to avoid late fees. You should then make sure to send your payment a few days in advance, as the mail may take a few more days, and a payment by your banking platform may take up to 72 hours to be processed by your institution.

Notice of Closure – Public Holiday

Please note that our administrative offices will be closed on Monday, October 10th for Thanksgiving.

The team will be back on Tuesday, October 11th, starting at 9 a.m.

 Thank you for your understanding.
