Temporary Carport<\/h3>\n

With spring upon us, it’s time to think about taking down your temporary carport. The presence of a temporary carport within all setbacks and parking areas is permitted from October 1st of one year to May 1st of the following year under Bylaw 2013-060, and sections 206 and 368, so it is important to plan to remove it before the end of April.<\/p>\n

\u00a0It is possible to install a temporary shelter between May 1st and October 1st of the same year under certain conditions. The installation of a temporary shelter is authorized only if it is installed in the rear lateral margins and is not visible<\/strong> from a public or private road.<\/p>\n

This activity is now very popular with children, and we can see that it is practiced in many countries!<\/p>\n

Earth Day<\/h3>\n

Every year, after the arrival of Spring at the end of March, we get to look forward to celebrating Earth Day on April 22nd. This day not only gives us a chance to appreciate all the nature that surrounds us in our beautiful municipality, but also to reflect upon our own impact on the environment and how we can improve it. To help, here are 5 tips and ideas of ways in which we can all make small changes as individuals that will make a difference:<\/p>\n

  1. Making sure you properly segregate your waste into recycling and compost in order to eliminate as much as possible any garbage that will end up in the landfill. Opt for buying items with sustainable packaging (or none at all!) or in bulk to diminish plastic consumption. Make sure to always bring your reusable shopping bag and water bottle!<\/li>\n
  2. Turning off or dimming outdoor and indoor lights to save energy and, not only will this help our local wildlife as lights can be obtrusive to their habitat, but it will also give you (and your neighbour) the extra benefit of seeing the stars brighter at night!<\/li>\n
  3. If possible, opt for public transportation or riding a bike. For regional travel take the train instead of driving or flying. And if it’s hard to get around without a car – next time you’re looking into buying one – opt for an electric or hybrid one.<\/li>\n
  4. Eat sustainably! Eating meat contributes to a significant carbon footprint. But if you like your summer BBQ too much to give it up entirely, opt for cutting out meat out of some (or most!) of your meals. Also make sure to buy your food locally which not only eliminates the emissions from transportation but will also support your local neighborhood farmer.<\/li>\n
  5. Using eco-friendly and biodegradable products – like for cleaning – will ensure that we don’t get all those nasty chemicals in the lake. Not only is it bad for the wildlife – many residents around Lac Manitou rely on its water for drinking. Same goes for your cosmetics – especially make sure to buy biodegradable sunscreen so you can enjoy those summer dips without harming the wildlife in our pristine lake!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    There are plenty more ways to be environmentally conscious and if we all try to do our part with the help of these tips, as a collective they will make a difference. So, on this Earth Day, I urge you all to go for a hike, dim your lights, and have a veggie burger!<\/p>\n

    Municipal Washing Sation and Landing<\/h3>\n

    The official opening of the washing station and municipal landing is scheduled for Thursday, May 5, 2021.<\/p>\n

Considering that scientific studies have proven that exotic invasive species can cause considerable damage, notably to flora, fauna, water quality, public health and the property value of waterfront buildings, we have ensured that measures are taken to maintain water quality.<\/p>\n

    \u00a0Washing boats, trailers, nautical equipment and material is essential and MANDATORY for any types of boats.<\/p>\n

    The S\u00fbret\u00e9 du Qu\u00e9bec<\/em> asks motorists and motorcyclists to be cautious. With the arrival of nice weather, motorists must once again share the road with motorcyclists. Everyone should adopt responsible and safe behaviour to reduce the risk of being involved in a collision. The end of March was particularly deadly with 5 people killed, including one motorcyclist. Wet pavement and loose gravel combined with changing temperatures can reduce tire traction and can increase braking distances and the risk of losing control.<\/p>\n
