We wish to advise the citizens that the schedule of the municipal landing and the washing station had to be adjusted due to lack of personnel. The change in schedule began on August 8th.<\/p>\n

Municipal Garage – Not an Ecocentre!<\/strong><\/h3>\n

We notice that some citizens come to the garage to deposit residual materials that should be brought to the Ecocenter<\/em>, which is prohibited. We only accept residual materials that are accepted in the different bins.<\/p>\n

It is the citizen’s responsibility to dispose of materials that do not fit in the bins and to drop them off at one of the region’s Ecocentres<\/em>. You can make up to 26 visits to the Ecocentres<\/em> each year.<\/p>\n

\u00a0Also, we would like to remind you that the municipality does not offer any collection of large garbage, so you must also bring them to the Ecocenter<\/em>, or mandate a supplier to do so.<\/p>\n

Since July 13, the Green Patrol is in action throughout the MRC des Laurentides territory. These agents will be present to inform you and to answer your questions concerning the filling of your bins in order to improve the quality of waste sorting.<\/p>\n

All Year Activity!<\/h3>\n

Mont-Blanc, July 22, 2022 – On July 21, 2022, the MRC des Laurentides inaugurated the Ancienne pisciculture public site simultaneously with its partner Sentier des cimes Laurentides, whose treetop walkway and observation tower are unique in eastern North America. This remarkable partnership between the MRC des Laurentides and EAK Sentiers des cimes Inc. has made it possible to preserve the heritage of the former fish farm and create a spectacular new ecotourism destination in the heart of the Laurentian Forest. The long-awaited inauguration took place in the municipality of Mont-Blanc in front of nearly 200 people from the political and tourism communities and the region’s partners.<\/em><\/p>\n

Nature and Wildlife<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Although it is the most common of its species, the somewhat elusive Great Blue Heron is sometimes hard to spot as it is quite skittish around humans. It conceals itself in marshes and wades near shorelines of lakes and streams, looking for its next meal. It will patiently stand still until the right moment to strike from a distance thanks to its long neck. Though its diet mainly consists of fish, it will eat anything from insects to small amphibians, reptiles, and mammals, which it swallows whole in one gulp!<\/p>\n

With its impressive 6-foot-wide wingspan, it’s easy to see in flight how it\u2019s the largest heron in North America. Despite its size, the Great Blue Heron only weighs about 5 to 6 pounds because of its hollow bones. During breeding season, its mostly grey feathers will take on a more blueish hue, and its beak will go from yellow to orange, and its eyes will turn more red. Both parents take turns incubating the eggs and once the young are hatched, they also take turns feeding them. They learn to fly at 2 months and as adults can reach speeds of 50 km\/h. No wonder they are so hard to spot!<\/p>\n
